Swim Lessons

Today was day one of swim lessons. The boy can swim, but we'd like for him to be stronger in the water so we don't have to worry about him drowning. So today we went to the gym to meet Gus, his instructor. I don't know what my idea was of what Gus would look like, but it wasn't at all what I encountered. The kid was about 5'5" with thick curly hair and when I introduced myself I realized he had a pretty solid lisp. As I sat there watching him talk to Jake (I couldn't hear what he was saying) I could see the lisp in action. I then realized how unfortunate he was to have the name Gus, have a lisp and have parents that obviously thought this was ok for him to continue through life with. If I named my child Gus or Chris or anything that would enhance said lisp, i'd definitely be willing to either change their name or shell out the money for speech therapy so he wasn't some cruel universal joke for his entire life.

Poor Gus. I liked him. I also felt a little sorry for him and his little issue.
